Stephen J. Morgan (b. 1970) is a Birmingham-based artist whose evocative photography explores memory, identity, place and belonging. This work was commissioned by Article Magazine for a story by Samantha Lyster on the British Seaside. The artist spent a day at Southend on Sea documenting the fair and seafront. This nostalgia-tinted image evokes memories of traditional childhood holidays by the seaside.
Morgan has achieved much success as an artist, exhibiting in group and solo shows at galleries including Argentea Gallery, The Jerwood Space, The Wapping Project Bankside and Photon Gallery in Slovenia. His work belongs to collections at Birmingham Central Library, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and numerous private collections. His photographs have been featured in publications by Laurence King Publishing and Thames & Hudson.
